Department Introduction

About

To strengthen the comprehensive health care services of the medical center and to promote the educational researches regarding community health, the CMUH established the Department of Community Medicine in 1998 combining the community resources and extending the hospital health care to the communities. With the population aging, chronic diseases are increased rapidly so that the preventive medicine becomes one of the essential sciences. Grasping the trend, the CMUH built the Preventive Medicine Center in 2007, in order to support more professional services and researches of preventive medicine for communities and people.

History

1998: To strengthen the comprehensive health care services of the medical center, the Family Medicine Department, the Referral Center and the Home Care, Discharge Planning and Social Work Sections were integrated to establish the Department of Community Medicine.
2007: Depended on the hospital development and based on the Department of Community Medicine, the Preventive Medicine Center was established and composed of the Department of Family Medicine (including the Department of Occupation Medicine), Health Examination Center, Community Health Room (including the Referral Center and Community Service Section), etc.
2011: Though the organization reconstruction, the Preventive Medicine Center was integrated to the Health Examination Center and the Department of Community and Family Medicine.
2016: The Community Health Room was combined to the Department of Community and Family Medicine.

Dr. Chien-Yi Ho is mainly engaged in the promotion of community medicine and has won the Community Building Excellence Award for his unique 3D community blueprint plan. Dr. He is enthusiastic and considers his illness as a matter of fact. He has taken the patient's affairs very important and won the honor of the outstanding physician of the year 101. His main business spans the branches of various systems and the headquarters of the school. Dr. He is actively engaged in community service, medical research, preventive medicine, promoting international medical cooperation, and developing outpatient integration of Chinese and Western medicine. The main licenses include the Chinese doctors' college entrance examination pass, the Western doctor's college entrance examination pass, the family medicine specialist pass, and the occupational medicine specialist pass.

Shen-Ju Tsai

Dr. Tsai Shen-Ju was the director of the Department of Family Medicine at the Hualien Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. He served in public and private hospitals and hospice organizations in the country and city area, and has extensive experience in long-term care and non-cancer hospice care. In order to further promote long-term care and hospice, he went to the Institute of Public Health at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and established the fan page“蔡尚儒醫師的安寧故事-臥床/非癌病人的幽谷伴行”. Dr. Tsai also specializes in diagnosis of acute and chronic diseases, travel consultation, preventive health care and smoking cessation services.
